This film documents police training that involved handling public order disturbances, such as National Front demonstrations. Various procedures and strategies are run through, with the focus heavily centralised on the co-ordination of officers on foot and mounted units.
The film opens in a courtyard with a shot of officers practicing PSU manoeuvres from an elevated position. Mounted officers move in a wedge formation through the rows of constables, who split down the middle as the horses approach; this procedure is practiced several times. Officers with riot shields then block the mounted unit's path as they trot towards them. There are then shots of the mounted officers moving back and forth between the officers, who bang their riot shields as the horses pass. Officers with riot shields then move quickly between rows off policemen, followed by mounted units, who then practice driving protestors back.
A new manoeuvre is practiced; mounted units emerge through the midst of several rows of officers, who then quickly form a defensive line behind them, and this procedure is again practiced several times with subtle variations. The next shot shows the procedure done at a higher tempo, with horses moving at a fast paced trot.
The next sequence opens with officers marching around the courtyard in tight formation. There are then views of officers with riot shields practicing quick advancements. Following this, the procedures are practiced again; however, the camera has moved to a more side-on position.
