This film, made by the West Yorkshire Metropolitan police, features a firearms training simulation, involving a gunman hiding out in a farmhouse. The officers involved use tactics and specialised equipment (including CS gas) to ensure that the operation is brought to a swift and peaceful resolution.
The film opens with a shot of a man standing holding a rifle with sheep gathered in the opposite end of the field. A clapper board is held before the camera and chalked in the film box is 'F/A Tact'. As the man stands looking at the sheep, a jeep approaches and a farmer gets out, shaking his walking stick at the man. The sequence is then filmed from another angle; the man fires his rifle at the sheep before the farmer comes out and has to duck for cover as the man fires a shot at him. The farmer then drives down a road, meeting a police car. The farmer exits his vehicle and informs the officer of the incident that has just taken place; again a clapper board is positioned before their exchange.
The gunman is shown looking out the window of a farmhouse. An officer holds the clapper board before the camera. The officer and the farmer then crawl along the floor by a stone wall, with the farm building in the background. Two squad cars then race along a country road. The officers exit the car, keeping low as they move. The first officer peers round the stone wall, keeping an eye on the farmhouse. A new officer arrives at his side and the waiting officer informs him of the situation.
A clapper board initiates a scene between four constables, who huddle together devising a plan. A close up shows officers note pad, which has an outline drawing of the farmhouse area. A constable then sneaks along by a stone wall, and a model of the farm then shows the position of the officers who are attempting to encircle the offender. A gas launcher is then shown in a case along with several canisters of CS gas. An officer in a forecourt hurries out with the case and places it in the boot of a police car before driving off.
More shots show the officer huddling together, continuing to go over the plan. Again the model of the farmhouse shows that the previous officers have been replaced by firearms specialists. Two officers then join the officer by the fence, and he leaves as the new officers' un-holster pistols from their belts. The next shot shows a communications antenna on top of a yellow truck, and two officers stand below working through the plan as more marksman arrive on scene.
The officers with high powered rifles crawl up to the stone fence opposite the farmhouse and remove a stone from a wall in order to get a good view of the farmhouse. The officers are now in radio contact and the riflemen can be seen holding white radios. Two senior officers go over the plan with the farm owner, who occasionally nods in agreement. There are then close up shots of detailed notes of the operation taken by a constable. Again the clapper board signals that start of another senior meeting taken on the roadside, where officers huddle round a high ranking bespectacled officer as he runs through the plan.
Officers wearing body armour crouch beneath the stone wall as they move up to the farm site. They then climb the wall one at a time and the third man over manages to take down the wall. An officer relays information over a radio, before a body armoured officer tries to reason with the offender using a megaphone. A senior officer stands by the yellow communications vehicle speaking on a telephone.
An office puts on a gas mask, and cocks his pistol. Other shots show officers behind a stone wall wearing masks, with their pistols pointed at the farmhouse. An officer with the canister launcher aims at the farmhouse and unloads his CS round. He then puts on a gas mask, before the gunman comes out of the house holding his nose and is confronted by several officers aiming pistols at him. The offender drops to the floor and is arrested by a gas masked officer.
