Title - The opening of the hall March 1966.
This segment opens with a view of York Minster off in the distance. A large crowd of people are then shown wondering around the Bootham School grounds. On a busy street, the camera captures a Rolls Royce driving through heavy traffic. The Rolls Royce pulls up and outsteps the passengers, who promptly greeted by the Lord Mayor. The group are then escorted around the grounds of the new hall, presumably on the Bootham estate. After a brief photo session in the courtyard, the group turn and head into the hall.
Inside students, teachers and important guests have gathered and are siting at different levels of the hall. The camera pans across the room to reveal the stage, where several men address the crowd.
A close up shows a plaque that reads, 'Bootham School - This building was made possible by the generosity of old scholars, parents and friends of the school and was opened on 19th March 1966 by Joseph B. Hutchinson an old scholar of the school'.
More important guests are greeted at the hall entrance, before a sequence shows the guest mingling over cups of tea in the atrium. A close ups shows a plaque with an inscription of a lion. The final shot shows the exterior of the new hall in the foreground, with the Minster in the background.
