The film begins with three women emerging from a house and approaching the family car. A sequence of road signs is shown: Morpeth, Felton, Alnwick. Berwick, Scotland. There are also scenes of finishing with Eyemouth, where there is a tall gothic spire. They walk up to Edinburgh Castle and look out over the city. Two women hold up two babies together. Following this, two different women, together with another woman and two men, emerge from a bungalow and pose for the camera. There is another sequence of road signs for Falkirk, Bannockburn, Stirling, Callander, Dalmally, and Oban. There is then a view over Oban. A man hires some clubs and two couples have a game of putting.
The filmmaker captures various views of mountains and valleys. The group boards a ferry and, then there is footage of impressive gothic country building with a tower on four corners before returning to the ferry. The holidaymakers throw stones into the sea from the shore. They then visit a church in a village where they film the stained glass windows. Again there is a ferry and various places along the shore. They film McCaig's Tower above Oban, and take a boat trip along the coast.
They continue their journey along the coast by car, stopping at various places, before crossing over to an island. A farmer feeds his chickens on the island and some crofts can also be seen. They then take a cruise for Five Lochs. They film the scenery on their journey. They are then back in Oben, at the Burnbank Hotel, where fishermen are sorting out tackle on their fishing boats and fish are being unloaded as the sun goes down. There is a sign, ‘To Pulpit Hill’, and then a Highland band putting on a display, before there is a sunset over the fishing boats on the sea.
They drive over a single-lane steel bridge and film some of the landscape and some highland cattle. They arrive at Glencoe, filming the surrounding terrain before continuing their journey by car. A man and a woman walk along the shore of a loch holding hands. They arrive at Dunoon, where goods are being loaded onto a ship, and they take a boat trip, with atmospheric brooding skies and passing more fishing boats. Back on land, there is a mountain stream and another loch, with cars coming off a ferry. There is a road sign for Gretna Green where there is the Blacksmith’s Shop and Gretna Hall, and the film finishes by showing some examples of typical Scottish patterned blankets.
